KeyCheckout for Mac OS X

Tags Mac keyaccess

KeyCheckout is used for license borrowing, for later use when your computer is not connected to the Dartmouth network.  Depending on how a particular application was configured, it may not be necessary to use this.

Step-by-Step

In order to use KeyCheckout, you must have KeyAccess installed and a connection to the Dartmouth network.  If you already have KeyAccess installed, you may need to reinstall KeyAccess to add the KeyCheckout option

  1. Download KeyAccess for Mac (see related article)
  2. During the installation click Custom Install and click the KeyCheckout option. It is not installed by default.
  3. Follow the prompts to complete the KeyAccess installation.
  4. When asked for the KeyServer address, please make sure the address is keyserver.dartmouth.edu.
  5. Open KeyAccess control panel from System Preferences.
  6. Find the application you need in the Available Licenses window, and drag it to one of the drives listed in the Checked Out Licenses window.  It is best to use your boot device for this purpose.  A temporary license key is copied to that drive.  You may now use that application off-network for the specified time.
