Stata for Macintosh OS X

This application is KeyServed and requires KeyAccess be installed on your computer, as well as a connection to the Dartmouth network each time you run Stata. If not on campus, you will need to establish a VPN connection.  The current version is Stata 17.  Older versions of the installer are still recognized by the KeyServer, and available on the Stata downloads page.  Versions prior to 17 might require a separate update to KeyAccess on MacOS 11 and later.

Stata 17:

  1. Download Stata 17 for Mac OS X. This is a Dartmouth-customized installer for both Stata 17 and KeyAccess
  2. In the Finder, Control+Click (or right-click) on the Stata17.pkg file and select Openthen select Open again from the 'Unidentified Developer pop-up.  This installer will install or update, as needed, the KeyAccess client.  Then it will install Stata/SE with a Dartmouth license key; no further registration is needed. The application will be found in Applications/Stata/ Do not try to install directly by clicking on the file in the browser download bar.
  3. Run the StataSE application. You should see the KeyAccess splash screen, and also a notification that you should check for updates.  Follow the instructions to update Stata. It will download new components from and then restart itself. The updated program will still be managed by KeyAccess.  If this is the first application you have installed with KeyAccess, a reboot will be needed before KeyAccess is active.
