On June 30, 2025 at approximately  4:15pm EDT the following email was sent many members of the Dartmouth Community. 


Subject: Act Fast: Is your Storage Nearly Full?
Sender: Your Cloud Storage Plan <r9397svincent@gmail.com>

Your payment method has expired.

Please update your payment information to avoid data loss. If your cloud storage is full, consider upgrading your plan.

Your cloud storage files may be removed today!

We were unable to renew your Cloud Storage.
Without sufficient space, you may lose access to your data and files.

Cloud's sync service helps store photos, videos, and documents securely on the cloud. You can access them from any device, anytime.

  • The email creates a sense of urgency (Your cloud storage files may be removed today!)
  • The email contains links to a suspicious website

If you receive an email similar to this one, it is recommended that you take the following actions:

  • Never click on any links in the email. 
  • Never open any attachments in the email.
  • Do not reply to the message.
  • Mark the message as spam or junk.
  • Forward the message to phishing@dartmouth.edu.
  • Block the sender.
