Phishing Scam 2024.10.31 - Phone Call Claiming to be from Dartmouth Department of Safety and Security

Phishing Method/Content

  • The Dartmouth Department of Safety and Security notified the Dartmouth community about a telephone scam in which a male caller claims to be a member of Safety and Security
  • The call shows the number 603-915-4033.
  • The caller claims that the recipient's child has been arrested with two others.
  • The caller then asks for money via Venmo to pay for a "second chance diversion program."
  • In cases like this, the caller or requester may also know the person’s name or other information that makes the call sound official, and the individual may be threatening.

  • Report the call to the Dartmouth Department of Safety and Security at 603-646-4000 or the local police agency where the call is received.
  • Block the caller.
