What to expect for the start of term

During the start of term, IT support will be focused on providing academic and student centered support. To help make fall term a success, we want your help to plan ahead. Please be aware of these key points to help prepare or plan accordingly:

  • Technology support will be prioritized for academic and student support. Other requests may have longer wait times.
    • Prepare your technology early and request help for anything that can be done ahead of term.
    • Browse the Knowledge Base for helpful information on technology you're using.
  • The Dartmouth Computer Store is still experiencing long lead times to receive equipment.

What should I do ahead of time?

Prepare your Tech

  • Update your your computer. If at home, connect to VPN (Global Protect) to get all your windows/mac updates.
  • Update and install the daily use software applications you use.
  • Install and familiarize yourself with any new software you expect to use for fall
  • Setup and test a backup Duo authentication option.
  • Ensure your computer is set up to the department printer by printing a test page

Faculty Preparation for Classes

Department Technology Check (for Department Admins)

Check the following technology, as it applies to your department. If you have been away from campus for a longer duration, please check our returning to campus resource.

  1. Office Printers
  2. Phones
  3. Wireless and Ethernet access (Eduroam)
  4. Conference Room Equipment (AV)
  5. Group-access Computers (shared department computers)
