Information needed to troubleshoot WiFi issues:
Who
User's NetID
Device's WiFi MAC Address
Make sure you get the WiFi MAC Address and not the Bluetooth or Wired Ethernnet MAC addresses
Both the device's MAC as well as any private or random MAC
Device make/model and OS version
Be specific: Apple Macbook Pro 13 inch 2020 M1 chip Mac OS 11.6.2, Samsung Galaxy 8 Phone Android 7.1.2, etc.
What
SSIDs the device is configured to use (eduroam, Dartmouth Public, or both)
What the issue experienced is? (error messages, unable to connect, able to connect but not working, slow speeds)
Do other devices have the same issue in the same location? If yes, provide information for those devices as well.
Do other devices not have the issue in the same location?
Was the device connected to VPN at the time of the issue?
If the issue was involving a Zoom meeting, please provide the Meeting ID of the affected meeting(s).
When
When the issue was last experienced (date and time, as specific as possible)
When the issue first started
Where
Building and Room Number
Does the issue occur in any other locations on campus? If so, where?
Does the issue not occur in other locations on campus? If so, where?
Is anything physically blocking the WiFi access point? (TV, Microwave, Fridge, Filing Cabinet)
