iPad Backup Options

Dartmouth does not offer a service to backup and restore an iPad. However, there are several services that can be used to keep your data safe and stored in multiple locations. Below are some recommendations for keeping your work data backed up.

Cloud File Storage

Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive

  • Store text documents, pictures, slides, videos, and more.
  • Allow you to access your files from your iPad and computer.
  • Keep your files stored safely off of your device.
  • Allow you to share your files easily.

Zoom/Panopto

  • Any recordings made with the iOS Zoom app are stored in Zoom's cloud and Panopto.
  • These can be accessed at dartmouth.zoom.us under "Recordings" or at dartmouth.hosted.panopto.com under "My Folder"
  • Recordings can be shared easily with a link.

Canvas

  • Upload and share notes or files from lectures.
  • Makes content more accessible for students.
  • Keeps files stored off-device.

Note: iCloud is an option provided by Apple, but is not supported by Dartmouth. Additionally, any storage above 5GB requires a paid monthly plan. It is not recommended for iPad backups.
