Publish Your Calendar to the Internet

Step-by-Step

Occasionally people have the need to share their Dartmouth calendar with people who do not have a Dartmouth account so cannot log in to view the calendar. The solution for this is to publish the calendar to the Internet, then provide the person who you want to be able to view your calendar the link (URL) to that page. Follow the steps below to do this:

  1. Log into bwa.dartmouth.edu using your Dartmouth NetID and password.
Note: Your mailbox must be in Dartmouth's o365 environment (rather than Dartmouth's Gmail environment) for this to work.
  2. Click the gear icon found in the upper right corner of the window, just to the left of your name.
  3. Click Calendar from the very bottom of the right-hand column that appeared.
  4. Click Shared Calendars from the left-hand column that appeared.
  5. Click Calendar Publishing that appears immediately below Shared Calendars
  6. In the Select Permissions field, select the amount of data from your calendar that you want anyone who has the published URL to be able to see:
    • Not Shared - select this option if you previously published your calendar to the Internet and now want to stop it from being published.
    • Availability Only - select this option if you want anyone with the URL to your calendar to be able to only see if you are free or busy.
    • Limited Details - select this option if you want anyone with the URL to your calendar to be able to only see if you are free or busy, location and the subject of each event on your calendar.
    • Full Details - select this option if you want anyone with the URL to your calendar to be able to see all the details of events on your calendar.
  7. Click Save found at the top of the window.

NOTE: Any events on your calendar that are marked as Private will not have any details shown, regardless of the Permission selection, other than free/busy.

Two lines will appear at the bottom of the window - HTML and ICS. Copy the information in the HTML line and email that to whoever you want to view your calendar via a web browser. Copy the information in the ICS line and email to whoever you want to view your calendar from within their calendar.
