What is DartAlert?
DartAlert is:
- An emergency notification/message sent to the Dartmouth community in the event of emergency that poses a threat to campus health and safety;
- A multimodal system of mass notification, which relies on various components of mass communication for redundancy to delivery emergency notifications to the community.
Alerts on your computer
Alertus is the application that allows Dartmouth's authorized personnel to relay important emergency alert information to your computer screen. Both installers are available in Jamf (Mac) and SCCM (Windows) Software Centers. If your computer is not managed by the Device Assurance Program, you can download the installers using the links below:
Alerts on your cell phone
In addition to having the Alertus application on your computer, you can also sign up for information to be sent to your cell phone.
- Students can set contact information during the Check-in process at the beginning of each term.
- Faculty and staff can set contact information in Employee Self Service, using the directions outlined in this KBA.
- Sponsored accounts, Guest accounts, and Emeritus Faculty and Staff can set contact information in MyAccount using the directions below.
Setting contact information in MyAccount
- Navigate to MyAccount and click "Update my account info or password"
- Enter the cell phone number where you want to receive emergency information. US numbers should be entered in the format: ###-###-####.
- Click to receive that information via text or voice. We recommend selecting Text as text messages are sent faster than voice mail messages, and text messages are delivered in areas where there is poor cell coverage.
- Click Save
