Stata for Windows

Step-by-Step

This application is KeyServed and requires KeyAccess be installed on your computer, as well as a connection to the Dartmouth network each time you run Stata. If not on campus, you will need to establish a VPN connection.  The current version is Stata 18.  Older versions of the installer are still recognized by the KeyServer, and available on the Stata downloads page.

Stata 18:

  1. Download Stata 18 for Windows. This is a Dartmouth-customized installer for both Stata 18 and KeyAccess.
  2. Double click Stata18.exe. This installer will install or update, as needed, the KeyAccess client. Then it will install Stata/SE with a Dartmouth license key; no further registration is needed. If KeyAccess has been installed or modified, you will get a prompt to reboot at your convenience.
  3. Run the StataSE 18 application. You should see the KeyAccess splash screen, and also a notification that you should check for updates.  Follow the instructions to update Stata. It will download new components from stata.com and then restart itself. The updated program will still be managed by KeyAccess.
