How to Share Large Documents with Others

Tags onedrive

As an Office 365 user you have access to OneDrive. Beyond its ability to be your personal cloud storage solution,  you also have the ability to share both files and folders to users inside or outside of the organization. You can do this directly in the file system or from any web browser when logged into OneDrive.

Users that do not have Dartmouth or Office 365 accounts will still be able to access shared resources after they confirm their identity by entering a code that is sent in a separate email as part of the sharing process. Once entered the user will have access to the shared file or folder until the sender revokes those privileges.

Note that the official Microsoft article goes in depth on the different methods of sharing files and folders with the users you collaborate with. It is recommended that when reviewing the article that you select the 'Send a link in email' option from the HOW DO YOU WANT TO SHARE drop down box. This will provide the recommended steps.
