Outlook Prompting for Credentials after Windows 10 update

Issue

User is reporting that Outlook is prompting for both username and password when launching application.

Environment

This article applies to Outlook for Windows.

Cause

While still under investigation a recent Windows 10 update seems to have forced some instances of Outlook for prompt for full user credentials. The only noted cases have been users that were always entering there password every time they access Outlook. These were users that chose not to select the 'Remember My Credentials' box originally.

Resolution

In this case users forgot that when they authenticate to Office 365 they need to enter their NETID@dartmouth.edu. In these cases users were just entering their NETID thus unable to authenticate. Another option to avoid having to enter full credentials each time is to check the 'Remember My Credentials' option.
