If you need to set a certain file type to automatically open after downloading in a web browser. Or if you need to edit what file types automatically open.
Firefox
- Click on the 3 horizontal lines in the top right of your Firefox window
- Select options
- Under General, scroll down to the category Applications
- Find the file type you want to change the action on, then select the action from a drop down menu on the right
- Note: if you cannot find the file type you are looking for, try downloading that file type first and then check this setting again

Chrome
- Download a file in Chrome
- At the bottom of the page where it shows what file had been downloaded, click on the arrow next to the file
- Select Always open files of this type

Follow these steps if you need to reset the settings you made
- Click on the 3 dots in the top right of your Chrome window and select Settings
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Advanced
- Find the Downloads section
- Click Clear next to Open certain file types automatically after downloading

- This will clear all previous settings and will download files the default action.
