External displays not working when lid is open

Issue

External monitors are not displaying anything when laptop lid is open.

Environment

This article applies to a setup with a Dell Latitude, a D6000 dock and two external displays.

Cause

Root cause is unknown, however when selecting each display in 'Display Settings' and checking the drop down menu under Multiple Displays the value says 'Disconnect this Display'.

Resolution

Ensure that when the Lid is open that the Multiple Displays drop down in 'Display Settings' says 'Extend these displays' and NOT 'Disconnect this Display'.
