Removed from ListServ as a result of repeated Delivery Error Reports from your mail system


People have reported that they have been removed from a ListServ.

The error message received is "You have been automatically removed from the <listserv name> list (for example: Campus Events) as a result of repeated delivery error reports from your mail system. This decision was based on the list's automatic error monitoring policy and has not been reviewed or otherwise confirmed by a person. If you receive this message, then it means that something is wrong. ..."


This article applies to ListServ subscribers who have been automatically removed from receiving messages they want to receive.


What has created this issue: At some time in the past you marked a message or messages from a listserv sender as spam or manually added it to your Blocked Senders list at some point. The Exchange email system doesn’t accept delivery due to the block, so when ListServ messages were routed through Exchange, that block was then enforced and maximum block counts begin to increase until the account reaches the limit which you were notified about.


You will need to remove the sender from your *Blocked Senders* list via that option in your BWA account.

Log in to your email at

If your mailbox is in the O365 environment, click the ‘gear’-icon in the upper-right part of the window.

  1. Click "View all Outlook Settings" at the bottom of the menu.
  2. On the left-side of the window, go to Mail –> Junk email.
  3. Review the addresses in the Blocked Senders list.
  4. Select the ListServ email address(s) you want to receive again.
  5. With the ListServ email address(s) selected, click the Trash Can (Remove) icon in the Blocked Senders section.
  6. Click the “Save” button at the bottom of the window to save your changes.

If your mailbox is in the Gmail environment, open the message..

  1. In the top right, click More .
  2. Click Unblock <<sender >>.

To re-subscribe to the ListServ, you will need to subscribe to the list again:

  1. Log into
  2. Click the ‘Log In’ button on the upper-right
  3. Enter your complete Dartmouth email address and password
  4. Click Log In
  5. Search for and select the appropriate listserv you want to join
  6. Click the Subscribe/Un-Subscribe link in 'Options' on the right
  7. Confirm the ListServ name
  8. Enter your name
  9. Click the Subscribe button at the bottom of the window
  10. In the email you receive, you will need to click the link in the message to confirm the subscription request.
