Step-by-Step
MacOS Firefox upgrade options can be set by customers.
Open Firefox > Preferences > General tab.
Scroll to section titled "Firefox Updates," Select one of three options.
Automatically install updates (recommended)
Check for updates but let you chose to install them
Never check for updates (Not recommended)
Troubleshooting Firefox upgrade issues and pop-up alerts - "Unable to update..."
Quit Firefox.
Open Safari and visit the
Firefox download page
and click Download.
Once the download has completed, the file (Firefox.dmg) should open by itself and pop open a Finder window containing the Firefox application. Drag the Firefox Icon on top of the Applications folder in order to copy it there.
If an older version of Firefox exists, a MacOS security pop-up will open.
Put in your MacOS account password (requires administrator privileges), select Replace.
After dragging Firefox to the Applications folder, hold down the control key while clicking in the window and select Eject "Firefox" from the menu.
You can add Firefox to your dock for easy access. Just open your Applications folder and drag Firefox to the dock.
