Students who are living in on-campus housing can get a physical telephone for their room by following the steps below:
- Submit a support request in the Services Portal
- Include the dorm/house name, room number and the number of the wall jack that you're going to plug the phone into.
Someone from ITC will email you with information about where to pick up your phone within 5 business days. The phones include a six foot Ethernet cable.
The phones provided are Poly VoIP phones; analog phones will not work.
Phones need to be returned to ITC by the end of the academic year in which they were installed (June 1st) or a $50 fee for the phone will be added to your Dartmouth account.
Rooms in Whittemore, Tuck Living and Learning Center and Buchanan Hall already have phones installed so a separate request does not need to be made for a phone if you are living in one of those buildings.
Dartmouth's phone system also includes the ability to use software-based phones. Follow the steps above to request a phone, then see Installing Zoom for information about the software-based phone that can be used in conjunction with your room phone number.
