Student Response Systems

Details

Student response systems allow instructors to ask questions and gather students' responses during a lecture.

These tools can help facilitate student engagement by polling students' opinions and asking students to discuss the reasons for their opinions. They can also be used to collect immediate feedback about students' understanding of lecture topics so points of confusion can be addressed quickly.

Each student can respond to an instructor's questions using a mobile device (phone or laptop). Summaries of student responses can be shown in real time to both instructors and students. Answers are also stored electronically for later viewing.

Dartmouth's currently supported response solution is Poll Everywhere.

If you would like to learn more about using student response systems in your classroom or to request a PollEverywhere account, contact Learning Design and Innovation.
