Moving A Parallel Image to another Computer

Step-by-Step

Prior to moving parallel, make sure machine has been backed up.

  1. Back up old machine using Time Machine.
  2. Install Parallels on new machine. (www.parallels.com)
  3. Copy the Parallels image to new machine.
    1. Click Go
    2. Click Computer
    3. Click Harddrive
    4. Click User
    5. Clik <User Name> Parallels is under
    6. Click Documents
    7. Click Parallels
    8. Paste .pvm file (.pvm file is located in the same place on the old computer you need to copy from)
  4. You will need to re-activate the license key once you open the parallel.  When you activate the software, it will prompt you to register your key or log in to your existing Parallels acount. Select log in to an existing account, enter the login information for your account with the registed key. Parallels Desktop will recognize the account and will not prompt you to register the key anymore.
