Phishing Scam 2025.10.22 - Delivery issue, please verify details ID: 22921065

On October 22, 2025 at approximately 10:03am EDT the following email was sent to a member of the Dartmouth Community.


Dear customer ,

 We are sorry tolet you know that your package which arrived on 22 Oct 25 14:00 UTC will be sent back.   

This may happen when the receiver address is incorrect. To submit a redelivery request for this package please fill out the form in our website.

This email contains the following indications of a phishing attack:

  • The sender email address (hnksnyp137@hotmail.com) does not match the display name (Barufaldi Yung), a common pattern in impersonation attempts. 
  • The email is mentioning a common problem, package delivery issues, and mentions that ignoring the email will result in the package being sent back.
  • The email is requesting the user click on a link to check the package status, the link in the email does not go to USPS. 

If you receive an email similar to this one, it is recommended that you take the following actions:

  • Never click on any links in the email. 
  • Never open any attachments in the email.
  • Do not reply to the message.
  • Mark the message as spam or junk.
  • Forward the message to phishing@dartmouth.edu.
  • Block the sender.
