Phishing Method
- Email sent to 100 recipients at Dartmouth, claiming to be from the college's Office of Career Services, but the sender name is a Gmail address
- The email content is creating a sense of urgency and offering something that is too good to be true:
- Remote internships available on a first-come, first-serve basis
- Requires only a maximum of seven hours a week for a weekly compensation of $370.
- Recipients are instructed to send the following to the sender's Gmail address:
- Full name
- Email address
- Alternative Email Address
- Phone Number
- Department
- Current year of study
User Response
- Mark the message as spam or junk
- Block the sender (so you don’t get another message like this)
- Do not reply to the message.
- Forward the message to phishing@dartmouth.edu
