SharePoint and SharePoint Lists Character-Limit Workaround

SharePoint, SharePoint Lists, and other software products might have a character limit when creating hyperlinks. This workaround works the same as creating a Tiny URL or other service to re-direct sites. 

Steps

These steps will help shorten the URL length by using a link created in SharePoint that can be used on other sites. 

1. Copy the URL that is too long.
2. Open documents folder in SharePoint that is accessible to parties using the URL.

5. Provide URL in the "Create link to" field
6. Create name for link in the File name
7. Create button
8. Hover over the name of the new link
9. Click 3 dots for more options
10. Copy Link
    1. 
        
11. Use this new link for redirection where limited characters are required.
