Microsoft Office Installation
Question: How can I install Microsoft Office on my Windows computer as a Dartmouth student, faculty or staff?
- Uninstall any previous versions of Microsoft Office before beginning this process.
- Log in to the Dartmouth O365 Web Portal: o365.dartmouth.edu.
- Click the "Install Office" dropdown, then select "Office 365 Apps".
- The Office installer will download to your computer. Double-click the installer file to begin the installation process.
- Follow the prompts, enter your computer password when prompted, and wait for the installation to complete.
- Once the installation is complete, launch Microsoft Office and activate it by signing in to Office 365.
- Enter your credentials to sign in.
- Install any available updates for Microsoft Office by using the Microsoft AutoUpdate feature.
Office 365 is the name of the Microsoft suite of online productivity tools. Comprised of email, calendar, contacts, communication, and collaboration tools, these accounts and the data in them reside on Microsoft servers around the country - referred to as "the cloud". Dartmouth's instance of Office 365 is commonly referred to as Dartmouth "Blitz".
Question: How can I install Microsoft Office on my Mac computer as a Dartmouth student, faculty or staff?

Microsoft Office for iOS and Android Devices
Question: How can I install Microsoft Office on my iOS device?
Answer:
Here are the steps to install Microsoft Office on your iOS device:

- Open the App Store
- Tap Search
- Enter "Microsoft Office" in the search field and tap Search
- Locate the app you would like to download (e.g. Microsoft Word) and tap Get
- Verify your account as prompted (you will not be billed) to download the app
- Tap on the installed app to open
- Enter your Dartmouth email address (firstname.m.lastname@dartmouth.edu) and tap Next
- Enter your Dartmouth NetID and password, and authenticate with Duo as prompted
Microsoft Office Installation
Question: How many computers can I install Microsoft Office on?
Answer:
You can install Microsoft Office on up to five different computers.
Question: What happens to my Microsoft Office subscription when my Dartmouth account becomes inactive?
Answer:
When your account transitions to an alumni account or becomes inactive, you will still be able to use the Microsoft Office suite of products, but with limited read-only functionality. If you need to create a new file or edit an existing one after your Dartmouth account transitions, you will need to purchase Microsoft Office.
Question: What happens to my Microsoft Office subscription when my Dartmouth account becomes inactive?
Answer:
Microsoft AutoUpdate for Mac keeps your Microsoft software up to date automatically, but you can also manually check for updates by clicking "Check for Updates" in the Help menu. If updates are available, select the ones you want to install and follow the prompts. You will need to enter the username and password for an account with administrator privileges on your computer.
