Managing Extensions in Web Browsers

How to manage your extensions and add-ons with the commonly used web browsers at Dartmouth.

Firefox

  1. Click on the 3 horizontal lines in the top right of your Firefox window
  2. Select Add-ons
  3. This lists all active and disabled add-ons and extensions that have been added to Firefox
  4. You can disable, remove, and sometimes change the options for a specific add-on or extension

Chrome

  1. Click on the 3 dots in the top right of your Chrome window 
  2. Select More Tools
  3. Select Extensions
  4. This lists all active and disabled Extensions that have been added to Chrome
  5. You can disable, remove, and sometimes change the options for a specific extension

Internet Explorer

  1. Click on the Tools icon(looks like a gear) in the top right of your IE window
  2. Select Manage add-ons
  3. This lists all active and disabled add-ons that have been added to IE
  4. You can disable, remove, and sometimes change the options for a specific add-on
    • Do not delete everything from this list. There are crucial add-ons that are required for certain web functions to work correctly. Consult with the Help Desk if you are unsure what to remove. 

Safari

  1. Open the Safari menu on the top left
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Select the Extensions category
  4. You can disable and remove a specific extension

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click on the 3 dots in the top right of your Edge window 
  2. Select Extensions
  3. This lists all active and disabled Extensions that have been added to Edge. It will also list suggestions underneath.
  4. To disable, remove, and sometimes change the options for a specific extension you have to click on the extension to reveal your options.
