Step-by-Step
If you want to be able to send a document to a Konica Minolta printer, but not have it print until you get there and select it to print, follow the steps below. There are two parts to this process: setting up your printer on your computer, then actually releasing the print jobs at the printer.
Setting up Your Printer for Secure Print
- Go to your Devices and Printers control panel.
- Right click the printer and select Printing preferences from the menu that appears.
- Find the Output Method box on the My Tab and/or Basic tab and change the selection to Secure Print.
- A box will pop up asking you to create a Secure Print ID and Password. Create an ID and password that will be easy for you to remember. You can choose anything you wish as long as it doesn't go over the maximum number of characters as specified on the screen.
- Click OK twice to save your changes.
- Now, when ever you print to this printer from any application on this computer, the document will not print out until you go to the printer and enter the Secure Print ID and Password that you created.
- If you ever forget your Secure Print ID and password, you can always return to the Printing preferences screen on you computer to view and/or change them.
- If you no longer want to send documents using Secure Print, just change the Output Method box back to Print.
Printing a Document that was sent using Secure Print
- At the printer, press the Menu button.
- Touch Secure Print.
- Enter the Secure Print ID you created for yourself in the User ID box. It is important to note that this is case-sensitive.
- Touch Password - not the box where you would enter the password, but the Password field name itself.
- Touch OK.
- A list of documents that you sent to the printer using Secure Print but have not yet printed will appear. Touch the file you want to print.
- Touch Print then press the Start button.
