Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ's on Cybersecurity Month and Training
Dartmouth has established a required annual cybersecurity training program for all staff and faculty, which will begin on October 1, 2025, and run through October 31, 2025. Dartmouth is required to provide cybersecurity training to all employees. Regulations, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), require institutions handling non-public personal information (including student financial aid data) to establish and maintain a comprehensive information security program.
This initiative reflects our institutional commitment to protecting sensitive data, maintaining operational resilience, and strengthening our collective cybersecurity awareness in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
For more information on this annual training requirement, please follow this link.
To access the training please visit https://dartmouth-sans.litmos.com and log in with your Dartmouth SSO Login.
October is Cybersecurity Month, an important time to sharpen our awareness and habits to protect personal and institutional data. Whether you join virtual webinars, attend in-person workshops, or test your knowledge in quick quizzes, every activity builds practical skills, such as spotting phishing, creating strong passwords, and safely using campus systems. Participating not only reduces individual risk but also strengthens our collective defenses —Cyber Smart, Dartmouth Strong.

Phishing Simulation Training
The Dartmouth Cybersecurity Training Team will launch phishing simulation campaign directed at staff and faculty on Tuesday October 14. A phishing simulation campaign is when companies use software to send simulated phishing emails to employees. These phishing simulation campaigns will be run periodically to help identify potential users who could use additional education in identifying phishing emails. For the rest of the month of October when a user reports a phishing simulation or real phishing email (limit 5) by forwarding the email to phishing@dartmouth.edu they will be entered into a drawing for an iPad.
