Claude for Education (Anthropic) requires a first-time sign-in by using Claude.Dartmouth.edu. Personal accounts using a Dartmouth email address prior to January 25, 2026 will continue to have access to those accounts. Please see the Personal Account Using Dartmouth address section below.
Claude Sign-In
- Claude.dartmouth.edu
- Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge is suggested
- Login to SSO with NetID and Password
- Follow the prompts on preferences during account set up for the best Claude experience if this is your first time logging in
The website https://claude.ai can also be used to log into Anthropic Claude.
- Visit Claude.AI
- Enter Dartmouth email into email field
- "Continue with SSO" should appear
- Click "Continue with SSO"
- Log into SSO with NetID and Password
Please note: If you receive a message that the webauth cannot redirect after attempting to sign-in, please go to logout.dartmouth.edu then try again. Occassionally the browser must be closed entirely after going to logout.dartmouth.edu before trying again.

If you signed up for a free account with the Dartmouth email prior to January 25, 2026 you will want to follow these steps for accessing the personal account using your previously created password:
- Log in using the normal email sign-in, and not the single sign-on at Claude.
- You can then toggle between the accounts if logged into both with the toggle in the bottom-left corner
Many find advantages to using the desktop application. If you receive the error message below, please use the direct download from the Claude site https://claude.com/download
