Cloud Services at Dartmouth

Cloud Access for Free
If you are interested in what the cloud has to offer you, most cloud vendors have free accounts that you can setup and use to explore various cloud services..  These free accounts generally allot you a specific dollar amount that you can consume within a period of time to use their services.  They may require a credit card, but they will not charge you until your specific free dollar or time limit is consumed.  Links to these free accounts are below:

These accounts are great for finding out more about cloud services.  However, they should only be used for exploration and temporary work as either the specific dollar amount will eventually be consumed or the trial period expire.

Cloud Access At A Cost
If you need something more permanent in nature for a research or a department project, Dartmouth's ITC department has master accounts with the following cloud vendors:

  • Amazon Web Services
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Dartmouth’s professional schools (Tuck, Thayer, Geisel, etc.) and some departments (Research Computing, Computer Science) which have historically managed their own technical resources and/or infrastructure, each have a separate “account” setup for them under the Dartmouth master account for each cloud vendor.  All resource costs associated with these “accounts” are broken out separately in monthly billing statements provided by the cloud vendors to ITC and then charged-back to the appropriate school/department by the ITC Business Office.

Please direct any questions about permanent cloud access to the various cloud environments to the appropriate technical resource at each of the professional schools or departments noted above.

Departments for which ITC has historically provided technical resources and infrastructure in support of their services, will fall under the central ITC “accounts” in each cloud.

Please direct any questions about permanent cloud access to the various cloud environments for any department NOT noted above to:  Infrastructure.Services.Team@cloud.dartmouth.edu.
