Pronouncing Student Names

Overview:

The student name pronunciation feature allows you to listen to recordings of students pronouncing their names. This tool helps in promoting respect and inclusivity by ensuring that names are pronounced correctly.

Instructions:

  1. Access the Directory:
    • Go to the URL: https://home.dartmouth.edu/directory
  2. Search for a Student:
    • Enter the student’s name in the first or last search bar and press the arrow next to it.
  3. Listen to the Pronunciation:
    • If the student has uploaded a pronunciation recording, a "Hear My Name" button will appear next to their name.
    • Click the "Hear My Name" button to listen to the recording.
  4. No Recording Available:
    • If there is no "Hear My Name" button, it means the student has not uploaded a pronunciation recording.
    • You can suggest to the student that they create and upload a pronunciation recording via the “Student Profile” tile in Darthub, to help others pronounce their name correctly.
