Text Messaging with Zoom Phone

In the past few years, there has been governmental review of sending text messages using a phone system. This has lead to regulations by the FCC which require telephone carriers (like Zoom) to implement functionality so they are complying with those regulations.

Two changes made by Zoom to comply with these regulations are:

  1. When you first send a text message to another number, you will be prompted to agree that you have receive the consent of the person to whom you're sending the text that they have agreed to receive the text;
  2. Your first text message to a new number includes an option for the recipient to "opt out", ensuring they can choose not to receive further messages from the sender.

If you receive text messages you don't want, reply "STOP". If you continue to receive them, you can forward them to the number 7726 (or “SPAM”) to report them to Zoom.
