AT&T antennas for ECSC

Summary

ITC is working with AT&T to study the feasibility of three sets of cell phone antennas on the roof of the ECSC building. These antennas would significantly improve the poor current cell phone coverage and capacity on the Dartmouth campus and parts of Hanover, including high speed data rates with 5G services. The antennas are also part of the FirstNet program, guaranteeing reliable connectivity for first responders.

Instead of a tall tower, the antennas are of a low profile below that of the existing exhaust fan silos on the roof. The proposed antennas would broadcast at frequencies documented below on this page. ITC is inviting commentary on this plan particularly from labs at the West End that work with RF sensitive equipment and can facilitate discussion between labs and AT&T to determine potential interference. To provide feedback, please email help@dartmouth.edu using a subject of "ECSC ATT" with comments or concerns.

A non-compressed version of the drawings below is available in PDF format as an attachment to this article, accessible in the right-hand side column.

Frequencies

As the design is only a proposal, AT&T has not yet assigned frequencies to the site, so the exact frequencies at which signal will be broadcast are not yet know. However, AT&T has provided the below list of frequencies for which they are licensed in Grafton County, so the final design will be a subset of the below list.
