To establish a VPN connection, after the client is installed:
On a Windows computer
- From the Windows system tray in the lower right corner of your screen (^), click the GlobalProtect icon.
OR
From the Windows search box (lower left corner of the window), type GlobalProtect. Click GlobalProtect (Desktop app) from the search results.
- Click Connect from the window that appears.
- Enter your NetID and password.
- When prompted, validate your identity with Duo.
On a Macintosh computer
- Click the GlobalProtect icon in the system tray (right section of the menu bar that runs along the top of the window where the date/time appears).
OR
Use the Finder, click Go from the menu bar, then Applications, then double click GlobalProtect from the Applications window.
- Click Connect from the window that appears.
- Enter your NetID and password.
- When prompted, validate your identity with Duo.
On a mobile device
- Touch the GlobalProtect app
- Touch Tap to Connect.
- Enter your NetID and password.
- When prompted, validate your identity with Duo.
- When a VPN connection is established, "VPN" should appear in the corner of your screen next to where your cellular strength and WiFi strength are shown. If "VPN" doesn't appear there, then you do not have a VPN connect.
NOTE: If the GlobalProtect window already says "Connected" when it first pops up, and the words on the button say "Disconnect" you do already have a VPN connection. You would only need to start a new connection if you restart your computer, or if your connection were inactive for more than 6 hours, or you had the same connection for more than 30 days.
