Geisel AV Standards: Group Learning Room User Guide

Welcome to the Geisel AV Group Learning Room!

This room is equipped with advanced AV technology to support hybrid conferencing, in-room presentations, and collaborative learning. Below is a guide to using the system effectively.

Common Use Cases (refer to the features below):

  •  I want to show my laptop on the Group Display and/or main displays.

 

  • I want to use the installed classroom computer to present.

  • I want to have a Zoom web conference.

  • I want to record my class, meeting, or presentation.

  • I want to amplify my voice during my presentation.

System Features & Usage

Hybrid Conferencing (Zoom & Other Platforms)

  • Select Zoom as a source on the AV Touch Panel
  • The room is equipped to handle conferencing without needing to join the virtual meeting from your personal device, but rather by sharing your video content into the virtual meeting that the room has joined. 
  • Privacy Mode: Mute microphones and disable the camera when needed using the AV Touch Panel.

Installed Classroom Computer Input

  • Use the installed classroom computer as a primary input source for your presentations.
  • Select it from the AV Touch Panel to seamlessly display content from the classroom computer.

Dedicated Hardware Recorder

  • Recording lights and audio prompts indicate that a recording is started or if the classroom is in privacy mode.
  • Control the recording through the AV Touch Panel. Follow the on-screen instructions to start and stop your recording.
  • Coming Soon: Ad-hoc Recordings can be started if your class or session did not schedule through the Lecture Capture Recording form. 

Software Based Recording Feature

  • Leverage the room’s Zoom capabilities to record your session.

  • Start a Zoom meeting and use the record function to capture your presentation and discussions.

Speech Reinforcement

  • The room features built-in microphones and speakers to amplify the presenter’s voice for better in-room clarity.

  • Adjust the Speech volume from the AV control panel.

Wireless Video Sharing

  • Share content wirelessly from your device to the room’s displays and to Zoom participants.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect via the Zoom application on your personal device. 

Wired HDMI Connection (Main Displays)

  • Connect your device to the main displays using the HDMI cable at the Presenter location.

  • The system should automatically detect and display your content.

Rear Confidence Monitor / Group Display / Local Lectern Monitor

  • The rear confidence monitor provides a view of the presentation for the presenter.

  • It also functions as a group collaboration display:

    • Simply plug in the associated HDMI cable located at the individual display, and your content will automatically display.

  • The Local Lectern Monitor will present content from either of the installed computers (IE: a secondary view of the installed classroom computer for PowerPoint notes or a secondary view of Zoom Rooms)

Advanced Routing: Comparative Mode and Confidence Monitor Routing

  • Use the "Advanced Options” button to route two inputs to different predetermined locations for side-by-side comparison.

  • Use the Confidence Monitor routing to select your source.

  • Select this option on the AV Touch Panel to dynamically switch between inputs.

  • Refer to the on-panel graphic for a visual guide on activating and using Comparative Mode.
