Introduction

Students, staff, and faculty at Dartmouth have access to Zoom Workplace, the platform for engaging with their suite of tools. This grants our users access to a number of features, some of which were made available at launch in March 2025, while others will be arriving in the coming months. Listed below are some of the features available to you.

Available at Launch

Webinars

Faculty and staff can host Webinars with unlimited minutes for up to 1,000 view-only attendees. Please visit this Zoom article for more details about Webinars.

  • What if my account doesn't have a Webinar license? What if I need to host a Webinar for more than 1,000 attendees?

The Webinar request process can be found at this link. Assignments per request are intended to be temporary, as they are a finite resource.

Large Meeting

Faculty and staff may host meetings that can last up to 30 hours with up to 1,000 participants per meeting. User accounts outside of faculty and staff can host meetings with up to 300 participants.

  • What if my account doesn't have a Large Meeting license? What if I need to host a meeting for more than 300 attendees?

Large Meeting license requests, like Webinar requests, are available and can be found at this link. Assignments per request are intended to be temporary, as they are a finite resource.

Zoom Scheduler

"Zoom Scheduler leverages the Zoom platform to connect users to their calendar, where they can generate slots of scheduled availability for attendees to then select a preferred time on both parties’ calendars. Users can also customize their email notifications. Since Zoom Scheduler supports Google, Office 365, and Zoom Mail services, users can also integrate Zoom Scheduler and generate slots of availability based on Google and Office 365 calendars as well."

Zoom Scheduler offers a native, easy to manage calendaring solution inside of the platform many users are already familiar with. Please visit this article for more in-depth knowledge about setting up Scheduler.

AI Companion

Some features of AI Companion have already been available to Dartmouth users, and more features are rolling out. Dartmouth has set these features as "Opt-in", meaning they're available but users must enable them on their personal account settings. Please visit your profile at dartmouth.zoom.us/profile and visit Settings (bottom left-hand column) -> AI Companion to enable Meeting Summary. Please visit our AI Companion article for more details about these features and information about data privacy.

Zoom Clips Plus

Create and share short-form videos utilizing your camera or screen share. Much different than a Zoom meeting, Clips Plus is aimed at short-form videos that may be embedded, shared, and that include commenting aspects. To learn more, please visit this article.

Zoom Sessions

"Zoom Sessions is a single-session events platform that allows you to host virtual or hybrid events using a Zoom Meeting or Zoom Webinar. The platform includes ticketing, robust registration, event branding, Backstage and many other features that will help you host an engaging single session event." This feature is new to Dartmouth, and our Zoom admin team is currently exploring and testing its abilities. Please see Zoom's article for more information.

If you are interested in hosting a large meeting with special branding, or have inquiries about Zoom Sessions, please submit a ticket and a member of our team will respond.

Whiteboard Plus

Zoom Whiteboard is a collaboration tool (a virtual whiteboard) where you can brainstorm and collaborate during, and outside of, meetings. Features include an infinite canvas, sticky notes, and flowcharting (using shapes and connectors). Zoom offers many templates to get you started along with various sharing options. Whiteboard Plus builds on this, offering personal template creation, additional storage, the ability to connect to storage solutions (Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and Dropbox), and compatibility with project management platforms (Jira and Asana). Learn more at the official Zoom website.

Coming Soon

Zoom Docs

Zoom Docs is a new note taking tool that integrates Zoom's AI Companion to help you collaborate, communicate, and organize information. While similar in nature to Google Docs and Notion, Zoom's offering incorporates AI Companion, and can create documents based off of meeting summaries. Conversely, a Doc can be started and meetings can be scheduled from within. Please visit this Zoom article for more information

Workspace Reservation

You may see this within your account, but this feature is not currently active. ITC is testing Workspace Reservations to determine if it is a viable solution for our room booking needs, and must currently be visible for our administrators to test out the feature.

Zoom Events

Zoom Events is a premier event management solution for hybrid or virtual experiences. Events builds on Zoom Sessions and is intended to be used for multi-session and/or multi-day events. At time of publishing, our Zoom team is working with Event Support and various areas around Dartmouth to explore possibilities where Zoom Events can best be utilized. A special license assignment is required to build and host an event, and can be requested at this link.
