Hyland OnBase Virtual Printer - Printing in color

A common issue with the automated OnBase install is that it installs the virtual printer without the ability to print in color. Even if you change the printing preferences. 

Remove and Reinstall Printer Driver

 

  1. Go to Apps & Features
  2. Uninstall Hyland OnBase Virtual Print Driver
  3. Download the attached MSI installer
  4. Run the MSI installer, and change the directory to be used from "C:\OnBase Printer Spool" to "C:\OnBase Print Spool"
  5. Now you need to add the printer. Select Add a printer or scanner
  6. Select The printer that I want isn't listed
  7. Select Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings. Select Next.
  8. Select the Virtual Print Driver Port: (local port). Select Next.
  9. Manufacturer - Hyland. Printers- Hyland Software Virtual Printer. Select Next.
  10. Click through the prompts to install the printer. 
  11. Once installed, open the Printing Preferences
  12. Select Paper/Quality and set the color to Color. Apply and close. 
  13. Test printing a document to the virtual printer. 
  14. If OnBase still shows the document as black and white go into Adobe --> Print -->Properties and check to make sure it is set as color.
