Dartmouth IoT Wi-Fi

The Dartmouth IoT Wi-Fi network has been enabled on the campus network to connecting devices that only support legacy modes of authentication.  Access to the Dartmouth IoT network is available only to faculty and staff with a valid business or academic need.  Dartmouth IoT is not available for students or guests, or for use with personal devices.

Dartmouth IoT is not a replacement for eduroam.  Devices that support eduroam must continue to connect to eduroam.

Dartmouth IoT operates as an 802.11n/ax network only on the legacy 2.4GHz band and is therefore limited in available bandwidth.  Dartmouth IoT does not operate on the 5GHz band in order to avoid causing interference with the eduroam network.  Dartmouth IoT cannot operate on the 6GHz band (Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7) due to protocol requirements for that band.  Dartmouth IoT uses WPA2-Personal (WPA2-PSK) with Multiple Pre-Shared Keys (mPSK) for authentication and encryption.

Dartmouth IoT is not available in all locations.

To request access to the Dartmouth IoT network, please open a ticket with ITC Network Engineering to explain your use case and arrange a meeting to discuss.
