How to install two MicroNiche apps on Risk Managment computers

Dartmouth Risk Management computers run two MicroNiche apps (www.microniche.com). Risk Management has licenses for two specific versions.

  • Workers’ Compensation Claims Management System (WCCMS v8.2.40.25)
  • Liability Claims Management System (LCMS v8.2.42.10)

Both apps point to an on-prem server - workcomp-db-prd.kiewit.dartmouth.edu managed by Infrastructures Services.

Both apps should only be installed on staff computers by direction from Risk Management. Not every Risk Management staff computer requires MicroNiche apps. Check with Risk Management about where to grab MicroNiche installers. Apps can be downloaded from MicroNiche web site. May have to sign into MicroNiche account to download apps.

After installing, edit each app’s “ads.ini” file using details below. Ads.ini file can also be copied from a Risk Managment computer running these apps.

  • WCCMS - c:\program files (x86)\MicroNiche\WCCMS\ads
    • [Settings]
    • ADS_SERVER_TYPE=2
    • USE_TCP_IP=1
    • [Databases]
    • wcData1=\\workcomp-db-prd\MicroNiche\Wccms\Data\wc.add;D
    • [workcomp-db-prd]
    • LAN_IP=10.248.33.132
    • LAN_PORT=6262

  • LCMS - c:\program files (x86)\MicroNiche\LCMS\ads
    • [Settings]
    • ADS_SERVER_TYPE=2
    • USE_TCP_IP=1
    • [Databases]
    • lcData1=\\workcomp-db-prd\MicroNiche\Lcms\lc.add;D
    • [workcomp-db-prd]
    • LAN_IP=10.248.33.132
    • LAN_PORT=6262

Note: If you get permission errors saving changes to ads.ini file -

  1. save changed “ads.ini” file to desktop
  2. rename original “ads.ini” file to “ads-bak”
  3. copy “ads.ini” from desktop.

Open WCCMS and LCMS apps, log in with Risk Management user id and password, verify connection to each app's MicroNiche database.
