Connecting a pre-programmed Roku

To connect a pre-programmed Roku that is already configured for Xfinity, simply choose whether to connect it wirelessly or wired. A wired connection is generally preferred and should be used whenever a network jack is available near the TV, as it guarantees bandwidth available for streaming. This is even more important in common areas with many people, as more wireless users will put larger demand on the wireless network, which may negatively impact the TV streaming services.

For a wired connection, simply connect the Roku to an Ethernet jack using an Ethernet patch cord before inserting the power adapter.

For a wireless connection, follow the steps below:

  1. Press Home home button on Roku remote on your remote
  2. Scroll and select Settings
  3. Select Network
  4. Select Set up connection
  5. Choose Wireless
  6. Continue to the next step.
  7. Select the "Dartmouth Public" network from the list of available networks. If you do not see this network, select Scan again to see all networks. Do not attempt to configure the "eduroam" network as it will store your netID and password, credentials that should not be stored on a potentially unattended device, or one that might be returned to the loaner pool. The "Dartmouth Public" SSID is broadcast using the exact same wireless access points that broadcast "eduroam", and service will not improve by choosing "eduroam". All the additional features that "eduroam" offers are not needed for the Roku device to function.
  8. Select Connect
