Dartmouth has established a required annual cybersecurity training program for all staff and faculty, this years training campaign will begin on October 1, 2026, and run through September 30, 2027. Dartmouth is required to provide cybersecurity training to all employees. Regulations, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), require institutions handling non-public personal information (including student financial aid data) to establish and maintain a comprehensive information security program.
This initiative reflects our institutional commitment to protecting sensitive data, maintaining operational resilience, and strengthening our collective cybersecurity awareness in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

Phishing Simulation Training
The Dartmouth Cybersecurity Training Team will launch phishing simulation campaign directed at staff and faculty during October. A phishing simulation campaign is when companies use software to send simulated phishing emails to employees. These phishing simulation campaigns will be run periodically to help identify potential users who could use additional education in identifying phishing emails. For the rest of the month of October when a user reports a phishing simulation they will be entered into a drawing for an iPad.
Cybersecurity Month iPad Drawing - Official Rules
Participants can earn entries into the iPad drawing throughout October 2026 by engaging in cybersecurity-related activities. Each activity offers a specific number of chances to win:
- Attend any of five webinars (1 entry per webinar)
- Complete a cybersecurity challenge (1 entry per challenge)
- Complete mandatory cybersecurity training during October (1 entry)
- Complete any single course in the Litmos Content Library (1 entry per course)
- Report a real phishing email (1 entry per email, up to 5 entries total)
- Report a simulated phishing email (1 entry per email, up to 2 entries total)
All entries must be earned between October 1 and October 31. The drawing will be held in early November, and the winner will be notified via email. Participation is voluntary, and the odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Fraudulent or duplicate entries will be disqualified. This drawing is open only to employees of Dartmouth College. No purchase necessary.

Question: Do I need to set a new password for Litmos?
Answer: No, though the new user link does request that you set a password you do not need to. Litmos uses the Dartmouth SSO and you can login with your Dartmouth username and password.
Question: I am emeritus/retired, do I need to take this training?
Answer: Yes, emeritus/retired users are encouraged to complete the training as security impacts everyone and the information in the training is valuable to all.
Question: I am also a Hitchcock employee and have taken their cybersecurity training, do I need to take this training?
Answer: Yes, Hitchcock is a separate entity, if you work at both locations you are required to take training at both locations.
