Problem
Creating PDFs from within Microsoft Word on Windows cannot be done without error. It may take one of the two forms:
- “Save as” PDF – file does save, but you encounter the following error message afterward:
"Word is running into problems with the "pdfmaker.officeaddin' add-in. If this keeps happening, disable this add-in and check for available updates. Do you want to disable it now?"

- When you “Print as PDF” an error messages is generated that references fonts, for example:
%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
AptosSlab-Bold not found, using Courier.
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Solution(s)
This issue is typically related to a version mismatch between Acrobat and Microsoft Word.
- Update Software: Open Adobe Acrobat and check for updates. To check for updates in Adobe Acrobat on Windows, open the app, click Menu > Help > Check for updates, and follow the prompts. Next, do the same for Microsoft Office. To check for updates for Microsoft Office on Windows, open any Office app like Word, go to File > Account, and select Update Options > Update Now.
- Repair Acrobat: Open Adobe Acrobat, go to the Help menu, and choose Repair Installation. Then restart Acrobat.
