Snapgene software

Through a Dartmouth-wide partnership between NCCC, Research Computing (ITC) and other departments across the college,  an institution-wide site license for Snapgene, an in silico molecular biology simulation software is now available. Snapgene allows researchers to plan and simulate their molecular biology projects, analyze sequencing data, and catalog genetic sequences with ease.

You can download SnapGene software at: download link (requires authentication).  If the page says that the license is expired, download and install anyway.  The registration key does not change, but the annual license will be updated.  Supported systems are MacOS 10.14 or later, Windows 10 or later, Red Hat Linux 7.2 or later, Fedora Linux 21 or later, Ubuntu Linux 14.04 or later.

We ask that you also install KeyAccess client so that usage information may be gathered, and subsequent renewals justified.

Please note that you must be on the campus network or via a VPN connection:

  • in order for the software to register with our institutional license when installing the software AND
  • at least once every 7 days for the registration to remain active with our site license
