Computer Disposal

If you have an old or broken computer that needs disposal it is important to remember that there are a considerable amount of hazardous materials used to build the machine. It is best not to just dump the computer in the trash but to let the proper parties take care of the disposal.

Dartmouth has a department that will dispose of devices for you. Note if your computer is part of the Computer Assurance Program (CAP), that is handled through the CAP program and the computer should be sent back to the Dartmouth Computer Store.

First, you will need to collect some information before Materials Management can pick up the computer. The company that disposes of the computers will also destroy the hard drives, to avoid any possibility of your information becoming compromised.

1. Building and room # item is in.
2. Description of item
3. Asset tag # and or serial # if applicable
4. Chart string to charge for removal

When your device is ready for pickup submit a request: Materials Management Disposal Request Form
