Removing a Google Search Result

There may be times where a Google Search result shows a link to a page that has been taken down and the results page still shows unwanted text. To correct this, follow the steps below:

Step-by-Step

Complete the process outlined at: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6332384?hl=en

  • Go to Step 2 Take Action>Get information off Google Search results> I don’t control the webpage>Remove outdated content tool https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals (Please note you will have to have a Google or Gmail account to complete this process)
  •  You will need to clear cache on your browser to no longer see the site or the Google search results

You will receive a message that you have been granted a temporary removal while the permanent request is being reviewed by Google. The owner of the site will receive a communication about the request and the opportunity to deny it.
