There are two types of Microsoft Office installations available to members of the Dartmouth community: those that are downloaded from the o365.dartmouth.edu website; those that are installed via media.
The versions of Office that are installed from o365.dartmouth.edu will remain fully functional as long as you have an active student, faculty or staff Dartmouth account.
The versions of Office that are installed via media (i.e., CD, USB, etc.) will be automatically activated when connected to the Dartmouth network. The software automatically checks every six months for a connection to the Dartmouth network. Dartmouth users who are off campus, would need to connect to the Dartmouth network via a VPN connection to reactivate their Office license.
