Eduroam Wireless Network

Step-by-Step

Follow the steps below to configure the eduroam wireless network on your computer/device.

Note: You do not need to be in range of a wireless access point that is broadcasting Eduroam in order to run this installer

Once you follow the steps below, whenever you are at any institution with eduroam, simply enter your Dartmouth username and password (as noted below) and you will be connected to that institution's eduroam wireless network.

Use the eduroam installer to configure connection

  1. From your device, go to cat.eduroam.org.
Note: DHMC users who do not connect to eduroam before the 8/29 cutover date should contact their IT support resource for assistance.
  2. Follow the prompts to run the eduroam installer.
    • For laptops or desktops, you will need to first download the installer to your machine then follow the installation prompts to run the installer.
    • For certain mobile devices, you may be prompted to install an app before you can run the installer.
  3. Complete the installation using the following information:
    • Device operating system
    • Institution - Dartmouth College
    • User Name - Your NetID@dartmouth.edu (e.g. D12345A@dartmouth.edu)
    • Password - Your Dartmouth password
    • Set the connection to automatically connect (e.g. "Remember this Network") where prompted
  4. Forget the "Dartmouth Public" wireless network on your device. When a device has “remembered” both Eduroam and Dartmouth Public, it can randomly decide to disconnect from one network and connect to the other, even if you’re in the middle of working. By having your device “forget” Dartmouth Public, you can ensure that it will remain connected to Eduroam at all times. See https://services.dartmouth.edu/TDClient/KB/ArticleDet?ID=72699 (Mac) or https://services.dartmouth.edu/TDClient/KB/ArticleDet?ID=69808 (Win) for more information.
  5. You will now be able to automatically connect to the eduroam wireless network.

Note: If you run into issues connecting to eduroam, contact the ITC Service Desk at 603-646-2999 or help@dartmouth.edu.

Note:  If using an iOS device, this only works with the Safari browser. The Chrome browser doesn't ask to install the eduroam profile configuration file.

Note:  If setting up on a Windows computer, be sure to set it as a "Private" network type, not a "Public" network. This will allow printing to networked printers wirelessly.
