Use of Apple's Time Capsule

Step-by-Step

Apple's Time Capsules are NOT allowed on Dartmouth's network unless the following configuration is used. If a Time Capsule is plugged into the network and this configuration is not followed, other devices connected to the network in the area of the Time Capsule will cease to have network connectivity.

1. An Ethernet cable attached to the campus network should only be attached to the Apple Time Machine’s WAN port.
2. The wireless network on the Apple Time Machine “MUST” be shut off. If not, it will interfere with the campus enterprise wireless system.
3. Connect your computer to the “network ports” on the Apple Time Machine to perform backups.
