Download Skype for Business

Windows users with Microsoft Office 2016 installed should already have Skype for Business 2016 installed.

If you have a Windows computer and a different version of Microsoft Office installed (and can't upgrade) or have a Macintosh computer, download the version you need from the links below.

Download the appropriate installer from the list below (Lync is the name of Skype in older versions of the product):

Install and Configure Skype for Business

Windows Users

  1. Double click the Lync installation file you downloaded. Lync should configure itself automatically on a Windows computer.
  2. Once Lync in installed, log in with a user name which is the same as your full email address (e.g. john.a.doe.20@dartmouth.edu)

Macintosh Users prior to Mac OS X 10.9

  1. Double click the Lync installation file you downloaded.
  2. Once the installation is complete,download and install the Lync updater.
  3. Once the updater installation is complete, start Lync. Enter your fill email address in both the Email Address and User ID fields (e.g. john.a.doe.20@dartmouth.edu).
  4. Leave the Sign in field set to Automatic.
  5. Click Advanced, which appears at the bottom of the Lync window.
  6. In the window that appears, enter sipdir.online.lync.com:443 in both the Internal Server Name and External Server Name fields.
  7. Click OK then sign in to Lync.
