OnBase Unity Client V17 Upgrade

Step-by-Step

On Friday, March 16th at 3:00 p.m. OnBase will be taken off-line to be upgraded from its current version 15 to the latest version 17. From this time until Monday morning, March 19th at 8:00 a.m. the OnBase Unity Client and all eForms utilizing the OnBase system such as Finance and Records Management Center eForms will not be available.

Upgrading to the New OnBase Unity Client Version 17

IMPORTANT: Do NOT upgrade to version 17 until after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16th. If you upgrade your Unity client prior to that time, it will NOT work.

What actions do you need to take to bring your Unity Client up to the latest version? It depends:

Upgrading Windows Computers that are in the CAP (Standards) Program

Note: There will be a green sticker on your computer that reads "Property of Dartmouth College Computer Assurance Program" if you should follow these steps.

  1. Restart your computer at least once at some point on Friday, March 16th before 3:00 p.m.
  2. Make sure you have logged out and exited the OnBase Unity Client by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16th.
  3. If possible, do not shut down your computer when you leave for the day on March 16th; just lock it by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete then pressing Enter
  4. If your computer remains in the office, and the above instructions are followed the Unity Client version 17 will be upgraded on your computer by the time you come into work on the following Monday. There will be no actions to take by you.

If you are unable to do the above steps, or for some reason your computer cannot be seen by the system pushing the OnBase Unity Client version 17 over the weekend, the system will try to push the upgrade to your computer on Monday morning, March 19th. It is important to note that it could take a few hours on Monday for the installation to be performed.

Important: If you are running the Unity Client the upgrade will not work; you must have exited the application.

The installation process is silent; there are no messages displayed or interactions during the process.

If you cannot wait for the central system to push the update to your computer, and would prefer to do a self-service install follow the instructions in the section below.

Upgrading Windows Computer Not in the CAP (Standards) Program

If you are not on a CAP computer then the Unity Client will not automatically install. Follow the instructions below to upgrade to version 17.

  1. Download the OnBase Unity Client v17 installer to your computer, selecting to save it to your downloads folder rather than running it immediately.
  2. Open the folder where you downloaded the file, and right click OnBase17.exe
  3. From the menu that appears, click Run as Administrator
  4. When prompted that "The publisher could not be verified", click Run. The program will remove the existing Unity Client version 15 and install version 17 in its place.
  5. If prompted that “Our Information on this file is inconclusive”, click Allow this file.
  6. If prompted with additional questions, click Yes.
  7. A black screen with the text "Installing OnBase Unity Client" will be displayed. When the installation is complete, click Ok. The OnBase Unity Client version 17 is now installed and ready for you to use.

Running the OnBase Unity Client via RDS

Since there is no Unity Client for Macintosh users, if you have a Macintosh computer, you run the Unity from within a RDS session. In this case, there are no actions for you to take. When you come into work Monday morning the new version 17 Unity Client will be on your RDS desktop and ready to use.

Running the OnBase Unity Client at Tuck via VDI
