You have been directed here because our records show that you have an account on www.dartmouth.edu. Please read the following carefully as it impacts the future of your site.
The Enterprise Systems Group (ESG) is in the process of decommissioning the current www.dartmouth.edu web servers and all web sites that are hosted there must be migrated to another platform or deleted prior to the decommissioning. To find out more about this project and how it affects you, please see this article: Changes to Dartmouth Community Web Hosting.
There are several hosting options available to students, faculty and staff. You can learn more about them in the article referenced above, as well as here: Website or Hosting Requests.
Web sites hosted on www and the other Dartmouth platforms are self-supporting and you will be responsible for deciding where to move your site if you wish to migrate it to another platform. To facilitate the migration, ESG can provide some assistance in the process if you need it. This may include:
- Providing help determining which Dartmouth hosting platform might be appropriate for your site.
- Providing an archive of files and/or databases that you are using.
- Assisting with the transfer of files to the new server.
- Basic trouble shooting.
ESG can not provide assistance with the following but there may be other groups on campus that we can direct you to for assistance:
- Building a new website.
- Debugging code (e.g., PHP, Perl, Python) used on the site.
- Migrating a site to a non-Dartmouth supported service.
In order to ensure that your site is handled correctly, please click on “Request Service” on this page to open a ticket to let us know how to proceed. When you create the Service Request, you will have several options. You can:
- Let us know that you are migrating your site and where.
- Request an archive of your site’s data.
- Let us know that your account will not be migrated and should be deleted.
Important:
This www.dartmouth.edu hosting service service will become unavailable on April 1, 2021. All sites hosted on the current www.dartmouth.edu servers will be removed by the time the servers are shut down. If you do not contact us via the ticket described above before the decommissioning date, the site will be deleted.
