Polaris- Shared Memory Computer (SMP)

40 cores, 64-bit Intel processors, and 1 Terabyte of memory, running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5. It is used to run computationally intensive programs such as mathematica and statistical applications, or programs that require a lot of  shared memory. It has 5 TB of local scratch space available.  Authentication uses RStor usernames and passwords, and home directories are in RStor (changing to DartFS and NetID authentication). Accounts are available to all faculty, staff and students, plus sponsored accounts on request. Access is by SSH (remote login).
